Frequently Asked Questions:

Question : What is the Brandywine River Like (fast/slow)?

Answer : The Brandywine River is a very slow, meandering river. It is perfect for beginners or older couples that want a relaxing ride without having to much prior canoe/kayak knowledge or skill. The river usually is about 4-5 deep on avg. though there are spots that are much deeper and also some spots that are much shallower. Water level is always in direct relation to the amt. of precipition that we have had in the area.

Answer : No, we do not have guides for our trips on the Brandywine River.

Question : Are we allowed to bring food and beverages on the trips on the Brandywine River?

Answer : Yes, you may bring food and non-alcoholic beverages - AND WE RECOMMEND BRINGING BOTTLED WATER. Alcoholic beverages are strictly forbidden and will not be tolerated. Please be aware that we need to keep our waterways clean, so please remember that all trash needs to be packed out in a trash bag or other similar device.

Question : Are we allowed to bring pets on the river trips?

Answer : Yes, pets are welcome to play on the river as well, though, owners must be aware that they will be riding in vans or buses to the river put-in and must get along with other people and possibly other pets.

Question : Where do we get put in for the 2 and 4 hour canoe/tandem or solo kayak trips?

Answer : We put everyone in for the 4hr trip at the Brandywine Picnic Park at Lenape, and the Brandywine River Museum in Chadds Ford for the 2hr trip. Our 2hr tube trip starts at Smith's Bridge and all trips end at Thompson's Bridge in the Brandywine Creek State Park.
